Happy B-day man, here's a lovely '55 I worked on for many years:
Sorry for the crummy pics, they're from an old phone. Cheers!

that really is a nice one.
Back to our conversation. Percentage of mechanics who know how to adjust valves on an air cooled, the specs, and to leave that #3 exhaust valve spec just a little large (.005)?
2%, 5%?

10 years ago, maybe 15%. Now, 2% or less for sure. Guys our age are the last that learned on these.
That car is so nice. It even had the factory metal-case toolkit in the spare, complete with correct wood handled tools. Roof racks on Bugs are kind of cliche, but that was a factory original as well. Working semaphores too. Just a wonderful thing, owned by one of the nicest old guys I've ever met. He was in failing health last I saw it, so I don't know how he or the car are.

I think that thing looks perfect as is. Roof racks will never go out of style for me. Besides, you need them for some extra room. Those tool kits though...rare to be complete. Must be almost as rare as my small pop top splitty spice racks

Sometime I need to get pics of my grandpa's 1956 356a roadster
